410 Sprint Showdown Headlines May 9 Event at 34 Raceway
Burlington, IA (May 5) - One of 34 Raceway's biggest 410 Outlaw Sprint events goes trackside on Friday night May 9 as
the best in the region do battle on the high banked 3/8 mile clay.
The car's and star's of the upper Midwest's premier regional 410 traveling group, the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series invades 34
Raceway for the first time ever. Last May's initial attempt fell victim to rain with a star-studded field having to wait an entire
year to try it again.
The 34 Raceway date kicks off a two-day Iowa swing for IRA as the series heads west to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday
for their annual IRA vs Knoxville 410 shootout. IRA is led by series two-time defending Champion Travis Whitney of
Minnesota. Past IRA Champion's Scotty Neitzel 2004 & 2005, John Haeni 2002, Kim Mock 1994 & 2001, and Donny
Goeden 1999 will also be on hand. Australian born Skip Jackson, a multi-time Knoxville track Champion, leads the always
strong Knoxville contingent. Skip was victorious last September in 34's first actual 410 race in nearly 10 years.
Cars from at least five states are expected, including Wisconsin pilot Mike Reinke. Reinke who was IRA's runner up to
Whitney the past two season's has had previous success at 34 Raceway, as the one-time Knoxville track record holder
captured a Sprint Invaders headliner in 2004.
A solid winged 410 car count is expected. Mod Lites and 3/4 Midgets also appear on the race card. Friday night, May 9...
Sprint qualifying begins at 7 with racing action to follow. Come watch 34 Raceway track record fall in what should be a
great prelude to the recently announced July 30 visit to 34 Raceway of the World of Outlaws. Many of these same
competitors will be looking to get a handle on the 34 clay in preparation for the big WoO event. However the May 9-10 IRA
/ Knoxville match up is certainly is certainly the hottest open wheel ticket of the spring.
Don't miss out on earth-shaking, ground pounding 800 horsepower thunder of the region's best 410 sprinter's, at 34
Raceway Friday night, May 9th and Knoxville Raceway Saturday night May 10th. Come Feel the THUNDER....
